The Philadelphia ROIC is the largest Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) field station, providing the full range of VA benefits and services to more than 859,000 veterans residing in the eastern 40 counties of Pennsylvania and the 7 southern counties of New Jersey.  In addition, our Pension Maintenance Center serves constituents residing in 21 eastern states of the United States, Puerto Rico, and all foreign countries with the exception of Central and South America.  During Fiscal Year 2005, the Regional Office  disbursed over $750 million in Compensation and Pension benefits.  Also, in 2003,  the Regional Office began to remotely manage VBA activities in Wilmington.  The Insurance Center, responsible for the overall national administration of VA's insurance (life) programs, services 1.4 million active accounts managed by VA.  Overall, the Center supervises and administers  approximately  $1.2 trillion in insurance coverage for 4.3 million veterans and members of the uniformed services and 3.1 million  spouses  and children. 

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has several programs and offices here on Wissahickon Avenue.  Located together under one roof are a Regional Office and Insurance Center (ROIC), an Information Technology Center (ITC), and the Memorial Service Network Region 1 area office of the National Cemetery Administration.
