Beckley VA Medical Center is a general medicine and surgical care facility comprised of 38 medical, 2 surgical, and 50 community living center beds. The medical center is situated on 36 acres of land in eastern West Virginia, and it serves veterans in eleven counties in West Virginia and one in Virginia. Beckley offers primary and secondary diagnostic and therapeutic health services in primary care, pulmonology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and oncology; inpatient and outpatient general surgery, ear, nose, and throat (ENT), urology, and orthopedics; and outpatient audiology, optometry, nephrology, dentistry, and podiatry. Urologic care is enhanced through lithotripsy capability. Other programs include rehabilitative medicine, prosthetics and sensory aids, extended care rehabilitation, home oxygen, nurse telephone triage, spinal cord injury, palliative and respite care, intermediate care and observation beds, a women's health clinic, adult day health care, and Care Coordination and Home Telehealth (CCHT). The outpatient mental health clinic encompasses general psychiatry, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) counseling. Diagnostic services include laboratory, radiology, CT scan, ultrasound, Doppler studies, a cardio-pulmonary lab (including echocardiography), and a mobile MRI unit. Telepathology, telemedicine, and telepsychiatry services are available. Secondary and tertiary care referrals are made within the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6). Beckley VA Medical Center will open a community based out patient clinic (CBOC) near Lewisburg, West Virginia, during fiscal year 2010. The VISN 6 Nurse Telephone Care Program is operated on Beckley VA Medical Center grounds. AFFILIATIONS
